Obama Campaign vs. GOP PACs

Happy New Year's eve. This week's blog is from CNN and can be found here.
Today's blog will mention President Obama (if you couldn't have guessed from the title) and that may be a bit refreshing considering the only mentions of our current president on this blog have been from the mouths of the GOP candidates. This info is directly about President Obama but his, (you guessed it) Presidential campaign. Apparently, Obama has been the source of negative advertising well before the Republican Primaries and during. According to CNN:
Super PACs supporting individual candidates have spent $10.1 million on ads that often include messages criticizing the president and his leadership. These groups spent $5.9 million in Iowa.
To date the spending hasn't changed the race – the latest CNN/Time/ORC International poll shows the president continues to rate ahead of his possible opponents in the GOP field.
These numbers are worrying the Democratic leaders and they are doing all they can to try to gain back some support from the country. They feel that they need to do more fundraising in order to help President Obama's campaign. They are merging and brainstorming.
But only time will tell.
