Happy New Year's eve. This week's blog is from CNN and can be found here.
Today's blog will mention President Obama (if you couldn't have guessed from the title) and that may be a bit refreshing considering the only mentions of our current president on this blog have been from the mouths of the GOP candidates. This info is directly about President Obama but his, (you guessed it) Presidential campaign. Apparently, Obama has been the source of negative advertising well before the Republican Primaries and during. According to CNN:
Super PACs supporting individual candidates have spent $10.1 million
on ads that often include messages criticizing the president and his
leadership. These groups spent $5.9 million in Iowa.
To date the spending hasn't changed the race – the latest
CNN/Time/ORC International poll shows the president continues to rate
ahead of his possible opponents in the GOP field.
These numbers are worrying the Democratic leaders and they are doing all they can to try to gain back some support from the country. They feel that they need to do more fundraising in order to help President Obama's campaign. They are merging and brainstorming.
But only time will tell.

Projected Turn out for Iowa Caucus
Today's blog will be a short one. It is simply about one of the many surveys conducted about the Republican candidates and the Iowa Caucus.
Mitt Romney and Ron Paul are the ones on top, it seems and the two most likely candidates to win the Iowa Caucus. Oh but surprise! Rick Santorum is in third place and is showing his best numbers yet. Behind him lies Newt Gingrinch and coming in fifth is Texas governor Rick Perry.
Basically, the main intention of this blog post is to let the readers know that the media is confirming what they already know. Mitt Romney is at the top of the game (and so is Paul) and Perry is steadily falling behind. The poll was taken by the Ramussen Reports by telephone and has a 95% confidence rate. If you want the exact results from the survey, it can be found here.

Merry Christmas to All
I should've titled this blog Happy Holidays to be politically correct but come on, it's Christmas Day. Even on Christmas, Bob Schieffer is working. Yes, that's right. This weeks Newscast is from CBS' Face the Nation. The Face the Nation clip can be found here. They brush the topic of the GOP debates but first, they talk about all of the nation's issues.
It is a very interesting newscast if I do say so and only lasts about Twenty eight minutes. We've seen two hour debates. This is refreshing. This has to do with the GOP debates because a big topic on everyone's mind's is the American economy. In this week's edition of Face the Nation, we find that some people think that the American economy isn't so bad and that other countries are worse off. He says, though, that the debt we are in is an embarrassment to the States. Apparently other countries are still investing in us. Not my words, watch the clip.

Rick Perry: Whispers
It's Friday, be happy folks. But apparently some are not in Iowa. Rick Perry is back in Iowa and came in with a roaring "Government, move out of the way." He has lost a lot of following since his initial boost when first launching his campaign. Very familiar with Texas but not much of anywhere else, he should have done his homework. The rest of the country is not like great ol' Texas and he found that out the hard way. Sensing that he's loosing his support, Perry tries the average-joe card. The article, from the Washington Post, can be found here. Perry says:
“I just want people to know I’m an approachable, regular person,” he said in an interview in the back of his campaign bus, where he said he sometimes unwinds with a short nap between events. “I’m kind of the same guy I was 20 years ago. A little more broken down now, maybe. Older but wiser.”
Still, even though he may be in the single digits in the polls, he still is a threat to his opponents, and gets Fundrasing money like no tomorrow.
He plans to get more support by taking his 2500-mile bus tour to 42 cities and charm voters. Good luck Perry. Learn to whisper next time. Talking loudly may be a bit off-putting for your conservative audience.

Michele Bachmann Still in the Race
For all you Horse Race fans out there, you'll be happy to know that Michele Bachmann is getting some support. Yes, she is still in the race.
See, we haven't forgotten about Bachmann! She's the most "consistent" candidate, how can you forget about her?
Well, this article will shed some new light on this Republican candidate. ABC news tells all!
From what Bachmann says, her support is climbing and climbing.
“Our crowds have been phenomenal. Our support keeps sliding up. There are no surprises with me. I’m not a politician. I’m a real person.”
Yes, Bachmann is in fact, made of the same stuff we all are made of. And, a bonus, she has perfect hair.
It seems that the other candidates are shedding their skin and showing their true colors. We wouldn't want our country to be run by robots, right Bachmann?
She accuses Gingrinch (because everyone is doing that these days) of supporting "the barbaric practice" of partial-birth abortion. Again, that would not be very practical. According to his opponents, Newt Gingrinch is not a very practical man. From mining on the moon to partial-birth abortion, we (the masses) just don't know what to make of this Gingrinch man. But that must be the allure because he still has his support.
Then she talks of Nuclear weapons and how Ron Paul being president would put all of our lives in danger. It is a very real fear. Good Job Bachmann. But don't forget about Ron Paul who is steadily climbing. He just might be your rival in consistency.
Only time can tell.

This Is War
This week's Newscast is a little special. It's a radio newscast from Minnesota Public Radio. It can be found here. It's not exactly a Sunday Morning talk show, Considering it was done mid-last week, but it definitely is very interesting. The topic on everyone's plates is Mitt vs. Newt, Romney vs. Gingrinch.
Newt Gingrinch is on the rise and no one likes being dethroned, so Mitt has to protect was his and go on the defensive. It is truly war. After denying so many interviews, Mitt Romney begins to interview daily, according MPR news.
"Zany is not what we need in a president," Romney told the New York Times on Wednesday. "Zany is great in a campaign. It's great on talk radio. It's great in the print; it makes for fun reading. But in terms of a president, we need a leader, and a leader needs to be someone who can bring Americans together. A leader needs to be someone of sobriety and stability and patience and temperance."
This is very true Romney, but why do you feel the need to say all of this now. Why are you attacking Gingrinch when you were oh so confident not too long ago? To be fair, Gingrinch has been attacking Romney as well. This only fair. And conservatives are truly nervous about Gingrinch and his "Zany" comments apparently aren't nervous enough to vote for Romney. He's apparently too liberal for their liking.
Only time will tell

2012 Presidential GOP Primary Debate
Replacing the regular Sunday Morning newscast blog, this week's cast blog is all about the Presidential GOP primary debate. Again, kind of like the Huckabee Presidential Forum, viewers are given a chance to learn more about the republican candidates. Last night's debate was truly something else. But it gave us a chance to see how our republican candidates dealt with pressure and how they viewed somethings. It can be seen here. Because Newt Gingrinch is the man of the hour this week, we'll keep our focus on him. After all, this is a nearly two hour debate and I like to keep things short and simple.
The Presidential GOP Primary debate of last night can be found here, on YouTube.
For starters, we learned that Ron Paul can say nuclear. But this blog isn't truly about him. It's about Newt Gingrinch.
He was questioned on his general electability and that is a real concern for these republican candidates. Once you become the nominee, how will the rest of the country respond to you? Contrary to what some might believe, liberals do not advocate adultery, they simply want freedom to do what they wish. Adultery is frowned upon on all sides of America and it is yet another stain to otherwise imperfect Newt Gingrinch.
He responds with saying how a previous nominee was deemed unelectable to general voters of the country but still became president. It is not all about electability, says Gingrinch. Oh, but it is. People won't vote for you if they don't like you. Face it, it's about whether someone likes the candidate or not for most people, not about who can do the best job. That isn't to say that I beleive Gingrinch can do the best job, but people simply don't like him.
Well, only time will tell. I wouldn't want my moderately liberal bias mixing up the facts.

Gingrich vs. Romney (again?)
No one likes to hear the same thing over and over, but is the same week. lt's about Gingrinch and Romney. This time, we're hearing things from CNN. The GOP debate in Iowa seemed to be an interesting one. A sparing match between Gingrinch and Romney? Sign me up.
Technically, this blog is about Romney has to say on losing his spot to Gingrinch. First, Romney tries to gain back some of the supporters that he lost by referring to Gingrinch's idea to mine for minerals on the moon.
"We could start with this idea to have a lunar colony that would mine minerals from the moon," said Romney.
Hm. Seems that Romney doesn't think Gingrinch's idea practical. Aren't Republicans all about practicality? Gingrinch didn't seem at all fazed by this and why would he be? That interview with ABC News said it all.
They trade blows, each accusing the other of being a career politician, and they both claim not to be, ("I'm not a politician, I'm a real person." Ring a bell anyone? Michele Bachmann, we haven't forgotten about you.) then Gingrinch is attacked yet again. Another article from CNN tells us:
From questions over his conservative credentials to his controversial comments over Palestinians to his acknowledged infidelity, Republican White House frontrunner Newt Gingrich was in the line of fire.
Better watch out, Gingrinch. Everyone wants to be the winner. Only time will tell.

Gingrich Rising
This week, someone's in the lead, and it isn't Romney this time. It's Gingrich's time to shine! Want proof, evidence? Everyone likes a good horse race, so see the research here.
But wait, apparently, it isn't all about Gingrich because according to the same research article, long time leader Romney isn't too far behind. GOP Primary Voters haven't quite yet given up on Mr. Perfect Tan. But it seems that male voters prefer Gingrich, while the female voters are dazzled by Romney's perfect smile. Both are nearly tied, though, when it comes to strong candidate backing. Only a third of voters are solid backers for Romney and Gingrich, while the other two thirds only moderately support them. So, I'd say it's anyone's game.
Gingrich declares himself the republican nominee to ABC News but the ancient Greeks did say, those who have Hubris will always fall.
Only time will tell, Gingrich, only time will tell.

The Huckabee Presidential Forum (GOP Style)
That's right, folks, the one we've all been waiting for. If you didn't see it yet, see it here. You know you want to.
Well, at least, I wanted to. I wanted to know all about these guys here, clear up some misconceptions I had. I'd like to say, mission accomplished. Actually, I knew very little about these candidates to begin with (except Romney's notorious spray-on tan. It's scary), so there really wasn't any room for misconceptions.
Q & A from some of our favorite GOP candidates, hosted by Mike Huckabee. For those of you who were disheartened by the fact that he didn't run this year, at least you get to see him again. 80 minutes folks, knock yourselves out. If you just so happen to be too busy to watch the video, I'll summarize.
All six candidates, (yes, Herman Cain has left us. Still shedding tears.) were given an equal amount of time to speak, questioned on issues. From 2012 Election Central:
"fielded questions on issues of state sovereignty and federal power from a friendly panel of Republican moderators."
Apparently, everyone is all about the Constitution. It's been mentioned a lot. This will definitely be an interesting race, folks, so stay tuned. Ron Paul is getting some support in the "who's real" debate between republican supporters as of now.
Only time can tell.

Herman Cain Withdraws?
Fact:
Yes, it is true.
To the dismay of Cain supporters, Herman Cain has officially withdrawn from the race sending republicans scrambling for their wits. This already shaky boat has become even shakier with Cain's withdrawal.
The why:
Why did Cain withdraw? Well, we've all heard the allegations against the now former republican candidate (some are still shedding tears, I'm sure). The supposed thirteen year affair that threatened to ruin family and (I quote) "distracted from the message he was trying to bring to the US." I'm still not quite sure what that message truly was, but that's alright.
The Effect:
What does this mean for the GOP candidates? Only time can tell of the true outcome of this new development.
Meanwhile, Newt Gingrich is the lead, having raised 16 points while perfect Mr. Romney has dropped seven.
However, Cain did leave us with a few choice words. According to The Telegraph:
"He said he would be endorsing another candidate later in the White House race – not, he added, President Barack Obama."
I'm sure the surprise will be shocking. That, folks, is all for today.
Peace be with you Herman Cain, peace be with you.
