Today, I decided to be a bit lazy and use the article title for my blog post title. I apologize. But ah, yes. About the issue at hand. Apparently, Newt Gingrinch will not be on the Virginia ballot in March because he could not get enough signatures. Need to check my source? You can find out about it here. It seems that Newt Gingrinch is not the only one. Texas Governor Rick Perry also failed to get 10,000 signatures and will also not appear on Virgina's ballot. According to the Article from Bloomsberg Businessweek:
“It speaks volumes to me about the particular
organizational skills of the candidates,” said Carl Tobias, a law
professor at the University of Richmond. “It’s hard for me to understand
how they could miss this opportunity.”
Gingrich’s campaign director, Michael Krull,
issued a statement calling Virginia’s ballot requirement “a failed
system” and said the former House speaker would launch a write- in
campaign. Virginia law, however, doesn’t allow for write-ins in primary
elections.
Of course Gingrinch is not deterred because as stated in a previous blog post, he feels that he will be victorious and this is confirmed by the campaign director.
“We have experienced an unexpected setback, but we will regroup and
refocus with interested determination, commitment and positive action,”
Krull wrote. “In the end, we will stand victorious.”
And so Gingrinch returns to focusing on Iowa whose caucus is fast approaching. Am I the only one who is shaking my head at these candidates? Only time will tell.
